International Coaching Week 2025

God designed us for relationship — with Him and with one another. Yet even among believers, relationships can be a source of tension, miscommunication, and disappointment. During International Coaching Week 2025, we reflect on the ways Christian life coaching can transform our relationships by increasing awareness, improving communication, and equipping us to love and lead like Christ.

As John Maxwell said, "Everyone communicates, few connect." Coaching helps bridge that gap by helping us first understand ourselves — and then learn how to connect with others in a meaningful way.

🔍 Understanding Yourself: The Foundation of Healthy Relationships

The coaching journey often begins with a powerful moment of self-awareness. One of the most effective tools I use with clients is the DISC Personality Assessment, which helps women identify their God-given strengths and communication styles. When you understand your design, you begin to live and lead with intention.

The DISC report raises awareness of:

Your Communication Style — Do you tend to be direct or relational? Task-focused or people-focused? Do you need time to process or do you speak before thinking? The answers bring clarity.

How to Connect with Others — Once you know your own style, you can learn to identify and respect the styles of others. This builds bridges instead of walls.

Your Ideal Environment — Some thrive in fast-paced settings; others need space, collaboration, and stability. Understanding your preferred environment helps you set healthy boundaries and bring your best forward.

Your Strengths in Key Areas of Influence — Whether you lead in business, ministry, family, or friendships, knowing your influence style is key to success and significance.

Your Growth Potential — Coaching does not just label your personality; it equips you to grow into your full, God-given potential.

“The more you know about yourself, the more you will value yourself, and the more you will respect others.” — John Maxwell

💬 Communication: God’s Design for Connection

Many conflicts in relationships begin with miscommunication. We interpret people’s words or actions through our own lenses, often unaware that they are wired differently.

Proverbs 18:13 (KJV) says, “He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.”

Coaching teaches the power of listening, pausing, and responding — not reacting. With DISC awareness, you learn:

  • How to adapt your language to meet others where they are.

  • How to diffuse conflict by understanding emotional needs.

  • How to create safe spaces for open, honest communication.

These shifts do not just change conversations — they transform marriages, friendships, workplace dynamics, and church communities.

“People may hear your words, but they feel your attitude.” — John Maxwell

💡 Examples of Relationship Growth Through Coaching

Example 1: A high-D (Dominant) woman who is results-oriented struggles with a high-S (Steady) spouse who prefers harmony and time to process. Through coaching and DISC, she learns to pause, listen more, and speak gently. Their connection deepens.

Example 2: A high-I (Influencer) woman loves social connection but keeps missing deadlines. Her high-C (Conscientious) boss values structure and excellence. With coaching, she learns how to plan better and communicate accountability — building trust and credibility.

Example 3: A high-C woman leads a Bible study but doubts her leadership because she is quiet and detail-focused. Coaching reveals her strength is in preparation, depth, and compassion — and she begins to lead confidently in her own God-given style.

“You have to know yourself to grow yourself.” — John Maxwell

📖 Biblical Foundation for Relationship Growth

The Bible speaks constantly about how we treat one another:

  • “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.” (Romans 12:10 KJV)

  • “Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” (James 1:19 KJV)

  • “Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:3 KJV)

Christian coaching helps women apply these scriptures in practical, Spirit-led ways by learning how to better connect, forgive, lead, and love.

🌿 How Coaching Supports Stronger Relationships

A Christian life coach does more than just offer encouragement. She equips you with tools, reflection, feedback, and scriptural truth to:

  • Understand how God uniquely created you

  • Learn how others are wired differently

  • Build communication strategies that reflect grace

  • Establish boundaries that honor God and protect peace

  • Grow in emotional maturity and spiritual confidence

This is what makes Christian coaching unique — it is not personality-centered, it is Christ-centered.
