Women’s Eye Health & Safety Month | Life Coach for Ladies Blog
By Coach Sandra | Truth Mindset™ Strategist
Did you know that two-thirds of all blindness and visual impairment occurs in women?
That is not just a statistic—it is a wake-up call.
God created you as a vessel of vision, not just physically, but spiritually. And while many women are busy looking out for others, they often overlook their own eye health until it is too late. That is why April’s Women’s Eye Health & Safety Month matters—not just as a reminder to get an eye exam, but as a call to stewardship.
“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” – Matthew 6:22 (KJV)
Women are more likely than men to develop vision problems, such as:
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
Cataracts
Glaucoma
Dry eye syndrome
Autoimmune-related eye disorders
Hormonal changes, longer life expectancy, and lifestyle habits all play a role.
Eye health is not just about clear sight—it is about protecting your independence, confidence, and ability to walk in purpose for years to come.
In the Truth Mindset™ framework, we teach that stewardship starts with truth.
The lie: “It is selfish to take time for myself.”
The truth: Taking care of your health is obedience to God’s call.
“Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost… and ye are not your own?” – 1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)
When you honor your health—including your vision—you are better equipped to care for your family, pursue your calling, and reflect Christ in every area of life.
Get an Annual Eye Exam
Many serious eye conditions develop without early symptoms.
Wear Sunglasses Year-Round
UV damage affects your eyes even on cloudy days.
Limit Screen Time and Take Breaks
Follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
Eat Vision-Boosting Foods
Add dark leafy greens, citrus fruits, fish rich in omega-3s, and carrots to your diet.
Stay Hydrated
Dehydration contributes to dry eyes and vision strain.
Practice Safe Makeup Habits
Replace mascara every 3 months and never sleep in eye makeup.
Manage Health Conditions
Diabetes, high blood pressure, and autoimmune disorders can all affect vision.
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of sight. Help me to honor You by caring for my body and protecting my vision. Show me how to see with spiritual clarity, not only with my physical eyes but with the eyes of my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
I see myself and my future clearly, because my eyes and my mind are aligned with God's truth and light.
“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” – Psalm 119:18 (KJV)
God created you to walk by faith—but also with clear vision.
Your eyes are windows to your world, your witness, and your future.
Make this month a turning point—schedule your eye exam, implement daily habits, and align your health with heaven's wisdom.
With purpose and vision,
