Truth Declaration: Focus More Pressing Forward In Christ

📖 “Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:12 KJV

There is something freeing about Paul’s honesty in this verse. He admits he has not “arrived.” He is not already perfect, and neither are we. Yet Paul does not stop there—he declares his pursuit of Christ, pressing forward to lay hold of the very purpose for which Christ laid hold of him.

This scripture reveals a powerful truth: our significance is not found in perfection, but in pursuit.

The Lie of Perfection

Lie-Locked Living tells us:

  • “You are never enough.”

  • “Unless you are perfect, you have no value.”

  • “If you fall short, you are a failure.”

These lies create shame, striving, and discouragement. Many Christian women live chained to the idea that they must have it all together before God can use them.

But that is not truth.

The Truth in Christ

Paul reminds us that perfection is not the requirement—faithful pursuit is. Jesus has already apprehended us by His love, grace, and sacrifice. We are secure in Him, even as we grow.

The Truth Mindset breaks the chains of perfectionism by declaring:

  • I am loved even in my imperfection.

  • My worth is not in flawless performance but in Christ’s finished work.

  • I can press forward with confidence, knowing God is completing His good work in me (Philippians 1:6 KJV).

Truth Declaration

Speak this daily over your life:

💬 “I am not yet perfect, but I am perfectly loved. I press forward, apprehending the purpose for which Christ has apprehended me. My pursuit is my worship, and my progress is proof of His power in me.”

Living it Out

  1. Release the pressure – Stop demanding perfection and rest in progress.

  2. Pursue with purpose – Ask God daily, “Lord, what step of obedience will bring me closer to You today?”

  3. Rejoice in growth – Celebrate small wins and milestones as evidence of God’s hand on your life.

Friend, you may not have attained all you desire, and you may not feel perfect—but you are already apprehended by Christ Jesus. That truth is your anchor. Now, press forward with confidence, declaring His promises, and walking in His purpose.

Truth Mindset Reminder: Your worth is not in perfection but in pursuit.

📝 Reflection Exercise: Pressing Forward

  1. Journaling Prompt
Take 10 minutes today to write down:

  • What lie about perfection do I need to let go of?

  • In what area of my life do I feel “not enough”?

  • How can I replace that lie with the truth that Christ has already apprehended me?

  1. Action Step
Choose one small, tangible step to press forward today. It could be:

  • Praying before making a big decision.

  • Reaching out to encourage a friend.

  • Spending 15 minutes in Scripture instead of scrolling social media.

Declare aloud:
💬 “I am pressing forward. I have not already attained, but Christ has apprehended me. My purpose is secure in Him.”

  1. Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for apprehending me with Your love. Free me from perfectionism and strengthen me to press forward in Your purpose. Amen.
