Sarcoma Awareness Month

Every July, we observe Sarcoma Awareness Month, shining a light on a rare but serious form of cancer that affects bones and soft tissues.

For many, sarcoma is unfamiliar until it touches a loved one — or becomes part of your own story.

As Christian women, how do we respond when we face a health crisis, whether in our own lives or alongside someone we care about? How do we balance awareness, prevention, compassion, and faith?

🌿 What Is Sarcoma?

Sarcoma is a rare cancer that develops in the connective tissues of the body, including muscles, bones, fat, and nerves.
There are over 70 types, and it often affects younger adults and children, though anyone can be diagnosed.

Warning signs can include:

  • A lump that grows over time

  • Bone pain or fractures

  • Swelling or tenderness in limbs

Because sarcoma can be aggressive and difficult to detect early, awareness is critical.

⚠️ The Lie: “There’s no hope when facing a rare cancer.”

When facing serious health challenges, the enemy loves to whisper despair:

  • “There’s no cure.”

  • “Your prayers do not matter.”

  • “God has forgotten you.”

But God says:

“For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord.” — Jeremiah 30:17 (KJV)

💛 Truth Declaration

“I trust God as my healer, comforter, and companion. Whether in sickness or health, His presence is my peace and strength.”

💡 How Christian Women Can Honor Sarcoma Awareness Month

1️⃣ Learn and Share

Educate yourself about sarcoma and its signs. Share awareness posts, stories, or resources to help others stay informed.

“Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2 (KJV)

2️⃣ Support with Compassion

If someone in your life is facing sarcoma or another health crisis:

  • Offer prayer, not just platitudes.

  • Provide practical help (meals, childcare, errands).

  • Simply sit with them and listen.

3️⃣ Steward Your Own Health

Take your body seriously as God’s temple:

  • Schedule regular check-ups.

  • Pay attention to unexplained symptoms.

  • Practice prevention through healthy living.

“Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost… therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (KJV)

🙏 Reflection Questions

  • How can I show Christ’s love to someone facing illness?

  • What health step am I postponing that God is nudging me to take?

  • How can I pray for healing and peace with faith, not fear?
