Maundy Thursday marks one of the most intimate and profound moments of Holy Week. On this evening, Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples—what we now know as the Last Supper—and washed their feet, setting an eternal example of servant leadership.
“If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.” – John 13:14 (KJV)
The word “Maundy” comes from the Latin word mandatum, meaning commandment, referencing Jesus’ new commandment:
“That ye love one another; as I have loved you.” – John 13:34 (KJV)
As Christian women called to lead, disciple, coach, and influence—we are reminded on Maundy Thursday that true leadership flows from humility, not hierarchy; from love, not status.
Jesus, the Son of God, Creator of the universe, knelt to wash the dirty feet of His followers—including Judas, the one who would betray Him.
He did not just talk about love—He embodied it.
Leadership in the Kingdom is not about being noticed—it is about being willing to kneel.
🧺 Jesus was not only Savior—He was the ultimate Life Coach. He asked heart-revealing questions, listened deeply, challenged perspectives, and led His disciples with both compassion and conviction. On Maundy Thursday, He coached through demonstration—modeling servant leadership by taking the lowest position in the room.
Whether you lead a team, a ministry, a coaching practice, or your family—ask yourself:
Am I leading with a towel or a title?
Do I serve even when it is not glamorous?
Can I love even those who may hurt me?
Foot washing was the work of the lowest servant in the household. Yet Jesus chose to do it, not with resentment, but with resolve. He was teaching us that serving does not mean shrinking—it means surrendering.
Sometimes, as women, we may feel that serving makes us invisible or undervalued. But in God's eyes, every act of humble service is sacred.
“And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.” – Mark 10:44 (KJV)
Personal growth means learning to serve:
Without complaining
Without comparison
Without needing credit
💬 If you are a Christian coach, your influence does not come from a platform—it comes from your posture. Jesus taught us that transformation begins with presence. Coaching like Christ means showing up in humility, asking Spirit-led questions, and guiding others into truth without needing credit or applause.
Coaching, at its core, is about helping others become who God created them to be. Jesus did not force transformation—He invited it.
🛠 He equipped His disciples to think differently, see clearly, and walk boldly. That is the heart of Biblical coaching: equipping others through truth, love, and the power of example.
Jesus knew who He was. The Bible says:
“…Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.” – John 13:3–4 (KJV)
He could serve with humility because He was secure in His identity.
And so can you.
The more confident you become in your calling, the more freely you can love and serve others without fear of losing yourself.
As you consider this sacred day, ask yourself:
Whose feet is God calling me to wash?
Am I willing to serve without being seen?
How can I reflect Christ’s love in action today?
Let Maundy Thursday remind you that the most powerful woman in the room is often the one with a towel in her hand, joy in her heart, and love on her lips.
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for showing me what true leadership looks like.
Teach me to lead with humility, serve with love, and pour out grace.
Help me to lay down pride, take up the towel, and reflect Your heart in all I do.
I want to love as You loved, serve as You served, and lead as You led.
In Your name I pray, Amen.
I lead with a towel, not a title.
I serve with joy, not resentment.
I grow through humility, not self-promotion.
I love boldly, forgive freely, and reflect Jesus with every step.
I am a servant-hearted leader—just like Christ.
