As we walk through Holy Week, each day carries deep spiritual significance. Holy Monday, in particular, draws our attention to one of the most striking moments in Jesus' ministry—the cleansing of the temple. This event, recorded in all four Gospels, reveals Jesus' righteous zeal for purity, holiness, and alignment with God’s purpose.
"And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple..." – Matthew 21:12 (KJV)
But what does Holy Monday have to do with our health?
Everything.
As Jesus cleansed the physical temple in Jerusalem, He was setting an example that echoes in our own lives today. Under the New Covenant, the temple is no longer made of stone. It is you.
"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" – 1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)
This Holy Monday, take a moment to pause and reflect:
What in your temple needs to be cleansed?
What thoughts, habits, or physical choices are cluttering your health and blocking your ability to walk fully in the Spirit?
We often care for others first. We run from task to task, doing what feels urgent instead of what is important. But stewardship begins with obedience—and obedience includes caring for the vessel God has entrusted to you.
Negative self-talk, shame, and stress build up like spiritual toxins. Holy Monday is a good time to release thoughts that do not align with truth.
“Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” – Romans 12:2 (KJV)
🔹 Replace worry with worship.
🔹 Let go of perfectionism.
🔹 Speak Biblical affirmations over your mind and emotions.
Jesus drove out what did not belong in the temple. Likewise, we must be mindful of what we allow in. Food is fuel, not a fixer. Health is not about vanity—it is about vitality for your God-given calling.
Questions to prayerfully ask:
Am I eating to live or living to eat?
Do I turn to food before I turn to God?
Is what I consume honoring my body as God’s temple?
Try adding more whole, God-made foods this week. Drink water with purpose. And remember—it is not about diets, but about discipline.
Even Jesus rested. And yet many women carry guilt for slowing down. Holy Monday reminds us: cleansing includes removing the noise.
Give yourself permission to:
Unplug from what drains you
Prioritize 7–8 hours of quality sleep
Say no to overcommitment
Breathe deeply—on purpose
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
Do not separate your physical health from your spiritual life. The same Jesus who healed bodies, opened eyes, and cleansed the temple, wants to help you live free and whole today. Your energy, focus, and wellness matter because they empower you to serve with joy and clarity.
Today, I honor the temple God has given me.
I will cleanse what does not belong,
restore what has been depleted,
and renew my mind with God’s Word.
I am a vessel of truth, wellness, and purpose.
What is cluttering your physical or emotional temple today?
What is one habit you can reset this Holy Week for better health?
How can you invite Jesus to “cleanse the temple” in a loving, healing way?
Take a walk and talk to God.
Prepare a meal that nourishes your body and soul.
Lay down something harmful—and pick up something holy.
Let Holy Monday be more than a memory. Let it be a movement toward wholeness.
